Transition Days Information
(updated following national guidance)
Due to national guidance we have had to adapt our originally planned transition days. This means we have had to reduce the number of schools attending, information has already been sent to all primary schools to make them aware of the planned changes. The reason for the planned changes is due to bubbles and ensuring we can keep each primary school in their own bubble and not mixing with other students.
The following schools have confirmed attendance;
We are awaiting confirmation of attendance from the following schools;
Any other school;
All parents of students at any other schools not listed above – we haven’t forgotten you! You will have received a personalised invite, inviting you and your child into school for a 20 minute tour of the Academy. The tour will led by a member of the Senior Leadership Team and will give you the opportunity to ask any questions to alleviate any anxieties your child may have before starting with us.
We look forward to welcoming all Year 6 students to our Academy 🙂
Transition students (Y6-Y7) – our suppliers are entering the final stages of production for your Childs FREE Uniform. The YEAR 7 cohort will be the first to receive the uniform, giving you plenty of time to get those door step photos for their very first day at Newsome Academy! We will be in touch shortly with further updates and how you receive your voucher!
Cancellation to Transition Event/s
Newsome Academy has planned and battled against all odds to ensure that as many of our future students as possible would be able to have a physical transition period – when all other schools quickly made the decision not to. This is because we strongly believed that reducing anxiety and supporting mental well-being during one of the most monumental periods in your children’s lives, was a priority and warranted creative approaches and adaptations to enable the transition period to go ahead – safely and in line with national guidelines.
Unfortunately, due to staff isolations and the subsequent current restrictions that we, and all schools, have had to work around, we have been faced with no choice but to cancel. This is with a very heavy heart, as I and my staff really wanted to relieve any anxiety or nerves before the summer term.
