Our morning routines are designed to promote positive relationships, readiness to learn and a strong sense of belonging from the moment students arrive.

Attendance
Excellent attendance is essential for success at Newsome Academy. Being in school every day allows students to build strong relationships, make consistent progress and fully access the curriculum and wider opportunities available to them.
We expect all students to attend school regularly and arrive on time. If a student is unwell and unable to attend, parents and carers must report the absence by 8:30am on the first day of absence using the main school telephone number – 01484 516712.
Attendance and punctuality are closely monitored by our Safeguarding and Pastoral Team, who work in partnership with families to provide early support where concerns arise. We use a range of positive strategies to encourage good attendance and recognise students who attend well.
Attendance information is:
reported termly to the Local Authority
submitted annually to the government
shared regularly with parents and carers
Where attendance or punctuality does not improve and there is no valid reason, the Academy may take further action in line with local authority guidance, including the use of fixed penalty notices.
In exceptional circumstances, requests for leave of absence must be made in writing to the Headteacher at least 30 days in advance, clearly outlining the reasons for the request. Requests will be considered in line with statutory guidance.
Our priority is to work with families to ensure every student is safe, supported and in school, every day.
