Welcome to our School
Welcome to Newsome Academy — a thriving secondary school set in the stunning countryside of south Huddersfield. With over 800 students and around 100 dedicated teaching and support staff, our academy is a vibrant, inclusive community where young people are encouraged to achieve their very best.
What truly sets Newsome Academy apart is our commitment to inclusion. We proudly host two specialist provisions for Hearing Impaired and Physically Impaired students. These provisions enable students to learn alongside their peers in mainstream lessons, while receiving the tailored, expert support they need to succeed. At Newsome Academy, every student is valued, supported and inspired to shine.

Headteacher’s Introduction
Since joining Newsome Academy in April 2017, I have experienced first-hand the special family feel our school offers and the energy from both students and staff has been a pleasure to see.
Newsome Academy has seen a significant and exciting change over the past few years – we have celebrated record-breaking results for the past few years. We are also the only secondary school in Kirklees that is celebrating a student securing a Scholarship at Eton College in 2022.
I strongly welcome visitors to visit us and see how being part of our school will be a momentous positive decision for both your child’s future career. Join us on our journey to becoming a centre of excellence. We hold our Vision, Mission and Values close to our heart and this can be seen in the document below.

The final few weeks of term have been busy for ourMusic Department. On 3rd of July 'AndPiano' visited us on their school tour. AndPiano helps to introduce secondary school students to Classical music encouraging them to listen and explore the genre through live performance.
