GCSE/BTEC Exam Preparations
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you to those who were able to attend the Progress Evening last week, we hope you were able to gain some
further insight into the preparations and demands in the run-up to the Summer Exams starting on Monday 15th May
2023.

We are pleased to announce that we will be offering a full set of GCSE revision guides for all students free of charge.
We ask that you support your child at home in getting into good study habits using the ‘power hour’ technique (see
presentation) to focus and engage with the revision guides by completing the questions along with any past papers and practice set by their class teacher.
We are very proud to share that our year 11s have been attending period 6 (3pm-4pm) revision sessions regularly showing their commitment to preparing for their exams. This along with regular revision at home will ensure they achieve their best in the Summer.
Please note important mock exams will take place next month. The majority are from 5th December – 16th December.
Photography and Art mocks are weeks commencing 21st November and French and German-speaking mocks are from weeks commencing 28th November.
It is crucial your child appreciates the serious nature of these mock exams as mock grades will be used to inform the final exam predictions that will be provided to colleges on your child’s applications.
The predicted grades will be shared along with attendance (95%+ minimum), punctuality and behaviour records as a prerequisite to your child being offered a place on their chosen course.
The initial stages of the application should be complete by the end of the year on the ‘Get Into’ platform.
If your child is struggling with their application, please ask them to speak to me and/or the careers advisor Danny Manning as soon as possible.
